MANILA - For the first time, members of the Transition Commission of the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front faced the public and asserted, they are focused on their task to create a basic law that will unite the Bangsamoro people.

Mohagher Iqbal, chairman of the commission, said they will begin the preliminary work but the bigger issues can only be addressed once the government and the MILF peace panels sign the 3 remaining annexes of the framework peace agreement.

Iqbal expects the annexes to be signed before the May elections.

He also said the conflict in Sabah will not affect the peace process.
